3 on 3 Basketball Tournament

The Williamstown Boys/Girls Basketball Teams are hosting a 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament October 7th & 8th. There will be 3 divisions -Post High School, U18, & U15 in both Boys & Girls Leagues. Entry Fee $25 per player (4 player maximum).

Summer Hours Summer Office Hours

All school offices will be closed from June 26th - July 7th.  The offices will re-open on Tuesdays and Thursdays only from 8:30am-3pm during the month of July.  Regular office hours will resume on August 1st.  The Board of Education office will be open throughout the summer, but they cannot access certain school documents.  Therefore, if you need items such as transcripts or paperwork for driver's license testing, please consider the dates above and make appropriate arrangements.

Renovation on Gymnasium Floors May 30 - June 18

We will be re-surfacing the court floors in both Gym 1 and Gym 2 beginning May 30th.  This process will last for several weeks, and could extend beyond June 18th.  We will post updates as necessary.

No events, practices, etc will be scheduled in either gym and no foot traffic will be allowed during this time.  We appreciate your patience as we work to improve our facilities.

The WHS Alumni Association will host the 93rd Annual Alumni Association Banquet on Sat., May 20th.


Confirmed Cases of Pertussis (Whooping Cough) In Williamstown District Health Alert Symbol

Williamstown Independent Schools would like to inform families that there have been 4 confirmed cases of pertussis (whooping cough) in our district. Please be mindful of any cough, fever, and runny nose. If present, please follow up with your physician immediately. Even those with a current immunization may contract pertussis. Diagnosis requires a test at the Dr's office. Treatment is typically 5 days of antibiotics, during which time students must stay home from school. The cough may linger after treatment, but is no longer contagious after treatment is complete.Most healthy individuals will fully recover from pertussis, but it is dangerous for infants and those with other health concerns. We ask for your cooperation in decreasing the spread of pertussis in the school community.

Box Tops for Education Challenge Box Tops For Education

Williamstown Elementary will be having its last Box Tops Challenge of the school year!  The grade level that brings in the most Box Tops will win.....EXTRA RECESS!!
The challenge will end on May 12th.  Clip Box Tops off of the packaging, attach them to this sheet or place them in a baggie, and return to your teacher. Encourage your family members, friends, and even your neighbors to collect for you.  Good Luck!

The Junior Class of 2017 will begin selling tickets for the JR/SR Prom on Monday, April 17th.  Tickets are $42 per person.  This year's prom will be held on April 20th at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati, OH.

Honoring the 1965 Williamstown Demon Basketball Team 1965 Williamstown Demons

Williamstown Schools are pleased to recognize the 1965 Williamstown Demon Boys Basketball Team, District champions in 1965.  Team members will be recognized during halftime of the varsity boys basketball game on Thursday, February 16th.  Preceding the game, a reception will be held at 5pm in the cafeteria in their honor.  We welcome the community to share in our celebration of these former players.

New Traffic Flow For Student Drivers and Parent Drop-Off/Pick-Up Effective Sept. 6th

Please note the following procedures for student drivers and family members who transport their children to school, which will begin Tuesday, September 6th.

  • Students who drive to school will continue to enter campus on North Demon Drive and park in the side parking lot.
  • Buses will now load and unload in the front of school.  Therefore, vehicles should not pull in the front loop of school during arrival and dismissal.  If you need to visit the school, please park in the front parking lot.
  • Family members transporting students to/from school will enter campus on the new road from Helton Street.  At the end of the road you will travel straight and drop-off/pick-up middle or high school students at the side door next to Gym 1 before exiting North Demon Drive.  If you have an elementary student to be dropped-off/picked up, you will continue to drive behind the school to the side of Gym 2 and exit at South Demon Drive.  If you have children attending both schools, please use the elementary location for drop-off.  Middle and high school students will walk to the appropriate areas in the Jr./Sr. High School.

Attention Seniors: Deadlines Are Fast Approaching!

Senior exit project commitment forms are due before 3 pm on March 29th.  Please hand deliver your form to Mrs. Kelly West or Mrs. Tonya Whaley in the FRYSC office.

Senior resumes, letter, and community service hour sheets are due on April 14th.  Extra forms can be found HERE if you have misplaced your original forms.

School Dental Program for Grades K - 6 April 11th

The Northern Ky Independent Health Department will be on hand on April 11th for sealants, cleanings, and flouride treatments for students ages K - 6. If interested in having your child participate in this free or reduced payment dental care program, please sign and return the form found here by March 10th, 2016.  Forms can also be picked up in the elementary school office, or by visiting nkyhealth.org (services/oral health programs) or call 859-363-2035.

Jan. 27th, 2016 was originally scheduled as an Early Release Day. It has been changed to a FULL DAY in order to make up some of the time missed during our recent snow days.  Please plan accordingly.

Show Your Support for Crayons To Computers

The Yelp Foundation is sponsoring a local campaign where non-profit organizations will be awarded grants to help fund their programs.  Williamstown schools would like to 'give back' to Crayons To Computers by supporting their efforts.  Please follow the link below and vote ONCE PER DAY for Crayons To Computers.  

C2C is a non-profit organization that distributes supplies to schools by allowing teachers to 'shop' once a month and bring free supplies back to their classrooms.


Christmas Break: Dec. 21st-Jan 1st

Williamstown Schools will be closed for Christmas Break from Dec. 21st through Jan. 1st.  

Please be aware that we will be on 'winter shut-down' during this time for energy conservation.  The temperature in both gyms will be turned down to 60 degrees and the rest of the building will be set on 50 degrees. This is our 5th year participating in an energy conservation program and we have been very successful, saving the district a substantial amount on energy bills. The building and gyms are CLOSED for all use EXCEPT  for our "in season" varsity teams (Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball)

Practices will be limited to 2 - 2.5 hours per day, and coaches are reminded to turn off all lights when exiting the gym.


Footsteps 2 Brilliance

Parents with students Pre-K through 3rd Grade: Join us on Thursday evening for an introduction to Footsteps2Brilliance! Bring your mobile device and learn about this great opportunity to help prepare your child for school. Childcare will be provided.

Veteran's Day Ceremony - Wed, Nov. 11th

Williamstown Schools will honor our veteran's on Wednesday, Nov. 11th with our 4th annual Veteran's Day event.


Box Tops for Education

Box Top for Education Competition runs through October 26th.  Send in your box tops with your favorite elementary student.  Winning class gets a pizza party!!  If you have box tops at home, but do not have a student in our district, drop them off at the elementary front office, we would LOVE to have them!

Children's Book Drive This Week

WHS is holding a children's book drive. Mrs. Forbes social studies classes will be distributing the books throughout the community. Please drop off new or gently used children's books to Mrs. Forbes classroom or the elementary or high school office no later than October 16th.

KY Safe Schools Week: Oct 18th -24th

The Kentucky Center for School Safety announces Kentucky Safe Schools Week observance will be October 18-24, 2015.  This year’s theme “I Want to be a School Safety SUPERhero!”  will focus on building-up the self-esteem of the students in your school and defining the characteristics of a School Safety SUPER student!

Soccer Informational Meeting - October 15th

Williamstown will host an informational meeting on Thursday, Oct. 15th for anyone interested in learning about a possible soccer program for next year.  Mr. Bill Simpkins will be available for questions and discussion.  The meeting will be at 7pm in the High School Cafeteria. Any student in grades 6 - 11 who are interested in playing soccer are encouraged to attend along with parents.

JR/SR High School Picture Day: Monday, Oct 12th

Individual student pictures will be taken on Monday, October 12th for students in grades 6 - 11.  Please make sure to have your envelope and payment with you that day!

Helping Our Students Stay Warm

With the temperatures dropping to record lows, Williamstown Schools wants to make sure all of our students stay warm.  We are accepting donations of any gently used coats, hats, and gloves.  Drop off these items in the elementary or JR/SR high office from 7:30am-3:00pm Mon-Friday.  If you have any questions, contact Kelly West at 859-824-4184

Congratulations to the 2014 Band of Spirit, KMEA Class A State Champions!  The band was crowned on Saturday, November 1st, an occassion that marked their 13th straight KMEA State Finals appearance.  The Band of Spirit has been named Class A State Champions six times - earning the title in 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, and 2009 in addition to this year.  

In addition to the state title, the band was named Reserve Grand Champion on October 8th at the Mid-States Class 3A Championship in Kings Mills, OH.

Join Us For Red Ribbon Week!

Oct. 24th through Oct. 31st is national Red Ribbon Week; a week set aside each year for the past 30 years to promote and celebrate a drug-free environment.  Williamstown School students and staff will show their solidarity and celebrate the week with 'theme days'.

KY Safe Schools Week Oct. 19 - 25

October 19-25 is Kentucky Safe Schools Week!  

Orange & Black Night

Williamstown Schools will be hosting our anual Orange & Black night on Friday, October 24th starting at 6:30pm.  Join us for a night of fun, prize give-aways, and Demon Pride!  

Meet the 2014-15 JR and SR High Demon basketball teams and cheerleaders, and hear the Screamin' Demon Pep Band energize the crowd!

Special Guests will be Jared Polson and Jeff Shepard, former UK Wildcats. Autograhed photos with the former players will be available for $15.  (proceeds go to the Williamstown Athletic Department.

Town Hall Meeting on Drug Prevention - Oct. 23rd

Grant County Champions will be hosting a Town Hall Meeting on October 23, beginning at 6:30pm at Grant County High School.  We are inviting all community members, parents, and youth (particularly middle school aged) to attend.  There will be separate sessions for community members and parents, as well as the youth in attendance.  The goal is to educate the community on how to prevent heroin and other drug use in our community.



Box Tops For Education

Box Tops for Education drive for the elementary will run until October 27th.  The homeroom that turns in the most box tops will receive a pizza party!  If you do not have a child in the elementary school, please drop off box tops in the front office. 

WES Fall Festival Sept 26th

Join us for an evening of family fun at the annual WES Fall Festival, hosted by W.E.B.O; games, food, auctions, prizes, and more.  

Admission is $2 for all ages.  You will be given a wristband when you pay for admission.  Game booth tickets are $ .25 each, and you must have a wrist band in order to purchase game booth tickets.

Changes for the 2013-14 School Year

What a start of the year it has been! If you haven’t heard the Williamstown Head Start/Preschool program has been overhauled and many changes were implemented over the summer. Even though we still have a strong partnership with the Grant County Schools, we are no longer serving their preschool eligible students.
