Dear Williamstown Families,
Happy March! Although I do not want my life to go quicker than it already is, I am always happy when the calendar turns to March. I am excited about warmer days and blooming flowers in the near future.
As many of you know, our district voluntarily participated in a safety audit conducted by the Kentucky Center for School Safety. This took place on Feb. 15 and was timely in light of recent school tragedies. The highest praise we received was confirmation that team members would send their own children to our school. The team left us with minor recommendations to help us further increase safety measures in the building and around campus.
While discussing campus safety, it is important to remember the procedures we have in place to promote student safety. The use of Loop Road to separate buses and car riders was a commendation from the team. When I drop my own daughter off at school, I realize it takes additional time. It also takes additional time to be buzzed into school, receive a visitor’s badge, and to pick up your child. However, I am sure we can all agree that student safety is our number one priority. Please follow the district procedures so we can continue to increase student safety.
March also brings one of my favorite events- Kindergarten Registration. This year we will be enrolling the future Class of 2031. It is always enjoyable to meet our newest students and their families. Kindergarten Registration will take place at Williamstown Baptist Church on March 2 and March 9. Children who are five by Aug. 1, 2018 are eligible to enroll, while children who are six must enroll. If your child does not meet the cutoff date, there are procedures in place to see if your child qualifies for early enrollment. Please call 859-824-4184 to secure a spot for registration and learn all the details of your scheduled time.
March 16, originally a scheduled day off, is now an inclement weather make-up day. Furthermore, March 26 will be the LAST LATE START MONDAY.
Also in March is the annual Williamstown High School play production. This year, students will be performing Peter Pan Jr. The showings are March 23 and 24 at 7:00 in the high school cafeteria. Make plans now to attend.
March 30 will be the last school day before Spring Break, which is scheduled for April 2-6. It is my hope you enjoy the time to rest and relax, so that we are able to finish the school year strong.
In closing, I would like to thank you for choosing Williamstown Independent as your choice to educate your children. We will continue to work diligently to provide the best possible education for every student.
Have a wonderful March,
With Demon Pride,
Williamstown Independent Schools
