Superintendent's Message

Dear Williamstown Independent Families,

December is upon us and the first semester of the 2017-2018 school year is ending.   Students are making notable achievements in the classroom and teachers are working hard to provide an excellent education for all.  Some highlights of the first semester include the Band of Spirit and cross country team making it to state finals, aerospace students learning to fly in partnership with Cynthiana Airport, and many students receiving individual accomplishments in arts and humanities. Most importantly, our latest test results show overall academic achievement increased in all three schools.  These results are a direct reflection of our hardworking students and staff.

Before the holiday season arrives, there are some exciting things taking place in the month of December.  First, the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams are in full swing and I encourage you to come out and support your Demons and Lady Demons.  The elementary Santa Shop will be held December 5-7.  The band Christmas concert is on Sunday, December 10 at 2:30 and will feature our community’s cheerful chimers.  The elementary Christmas show is on December 14 at 7:00 and will feature our talented students from Kindergarten through fifth grade.  High School students will wrap up semester finals and holiday parties will conclude on December 20.

Christmas Break is December 21-January 3.  This upcoming holiday season, my wish is that you are awarded an opportunity to enjoy time with the ones you love the most.

This season brings cold weather with the possibility of snow.  Please review our winter weather guidelines on our website so you will be up to date on possible school closers or delays.  It is always my hope we do not experience an interruption to the instructional process, but student and staff safety is always the number one priority.

Before you go your various ways for the holidays, I want to sincerely thank each of you for the contribution you make to the success of the Williamstown Independent School District. Because of your support, we are able to work towards our vision of Preparing Students for Productive Citizenship.

With Demon Pride,

Misty Middleton
