“Welcome to Preschool”
Dear Grownups, September 6th, 2016
Welcome! School has started and we would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to our class. We will be spending almost 9 months with your child, therefore I hope we can work together to make it a wonderful and memorable year. This week our focus will be on Safety and Identifying Feelings. We will also be working on Brain Builder activities that help build the parts of a child’s brain to support self-regulation. Our binders that you provided will be used for sample work and journaling. Once a week, I give students the chance to journal about specific topics, which gives them the opportunity to show their creativity and practice fine motor skills.
Some of our Kindergarten Readiness Skills will include:
Tuesday-Watching a puppet show that will help introduce ourselves to each other- Social Emotional, learning our Self- Control song, Introducing different learning centers-Rules and Expectations
Wednesday- Introducing ourselves to our friends “Hello Friends” song, Creating our family placemats- Art
Thursday- Journal- “Favorite part of school”- Fine Motor, Art, Brain Builder- Learning the Stop And Start activity
We feel that communication and collaboration is important to a child’s development. So please call or send me an email or note through your child’s backpack if there are any changes in schedules, family members, if your child’s sick, or any other questions or concerns with your child. Try to send your child with their backpack every day. We are asking for a $1.00 donation to help cover the cost of backpacks. If you know ahead of time that your child will not be attending school, please let us know by calling our home office or sending a note through the backpack when your child returns to school. Head start/Preschool Home office phone number (859) 824-4174 or Julia.Memering@williamstown.kyschools.us.
Also remember to send a 1-inch binder and a spare pair of clothes that we will leave at school in case of an accident or messy days. We are looking forward to working with all of our families to make it a fun year for the children. Please stop by and say hello or feel free to join us any day! Mrs. Julia & Mrs. Cheryl
